Nuuksio National Park
Escape the bustling city and find yourself surrounded by the tranquil beauty of Nuuksio National Park, located just a short bus ride from Helsinki. This accessible wilderness offers a perfect slice of traditional Finnish landscapes — dense green forests, craggy hills, and deep blue mirror-like lakes.
With clearly marked trails varying in length from 2km to nearly 10km, there is a path suited for everyone. You are welcome to use the public campfire sites (firewood is provided for free), making it a perfect spot to roast a sausage or simply enjoy a packed lunch amidst nature.
Keep your eyes open, and you might spot some local wildlife, such as the iconic Siberian flying squirrel, which is the emblem of the park. Whether you visit during the vibrant green summer, the golden rush of autumn colors (ruska), or the snowy quietness of winter, entry to the park is completely free.
